Posted by TigerGirl on November 09, 1999 at 13:36:19: I just know rumors are going to be flying about Unisys, the creator of the GIF compression technology (called LZW), charging for using GIF files. This is NOT TRUE! Unisys already charges most image editor companies (like Adobe, Corel,, NetObjects, etc.) for the rights to include a GIF format in their programs. If you were able to save your file in that format, chances are your editor has paid and you are safe. So don't believe the hype!
